The Apple Press

I began the Apple Press in early 2026 to print my book, The Poetics of Information. The name of the press, while being part of my book’s White Album pastiche, also reflects that I think better things can be done with the name “Apple” than are currently being done.
I make every book by hand — sewing, gluing, and binding. I’ve made classical soft-spine hardcover books, and more rugged signature-bound paperbacks. I also build the occasional notebook.
I often work from Project Gutenberg e-texts, refining and typesetting the plain text versions of classic works and giving them my standard binding treatment. This has been very gratifying. By the end of 2026 I plan to do my own typesetting and binding of The Lord of the Rings.
